Late Fees for Barnes & Noble’s Nook – BusinessWeek.

So. I’m a nook owner. Myself and my wife pre-ordered RIGHT away and got ours in the first shipment. I love it. I love everything about it. I did take a long time playing with friends kindles and I do think it too is an amazing ereader but I wanted something that felt more open to whatever I wanted to put on it. Having said that, I am starting to realize the downside of not being able to wirelessly send things to the device (though I still wouldn’t have on the kindle since I’m not going to pay for that) but I do think it’s coming one way or another to the device (hopefully with an RSS reader or more specifically Google Reader as well).

Sorry. I got off my own topic that I was trying to get to. So I read this article above and start seeing other websites claiming that since the nook with be shipped late to some people they are getting $100 gift certs from B&N. Which is great. They should do right by their customers. Funny thing though. I ordered some nook cases to protect mine and well, the B&N cheap-o cover shipped today but the expensive Kate Spade one which was available for delivery the day I ordered it mysteriously has become un-orderable from their online store. Now I have no real information here. What I am pointing out is PURE speculation on my part and in no way is affiliated with the article listed above. I’m wondering, is B&N pulling certain items so that the large number of nook pre-oreders that are getting these $100 gift certificates can’t buy them? I’m looking at their site now and a bunch of items that were “ready to order” yesterday are now “coming soon.”

I hope it’s just an issue of B&N not being able to manage the popularity of their device yet. That’s not a great thing mind you. But it’s understandable.

  1. Very informative text. I’ve found your blog via Bing and I’m really happy about the information you provide in your posts. Btw your sites layout is really broken on the Chrome browser. Would be really great if you could fix that. Anyhow keep up the good work!

    Hi Amber. thanks for the feedback. Ont hing that concerns me though. I ONLY use the Chrome browser. I am a huge Google fan, totally drink their koolaid. I’m using the latest developer build (right this second it’s 5.0.307.1 dev) on Mac OS 10.6.2 and my site loads fine here. Admittedly I don’t use Windows often so I’m assuming you are refereeing to my site having an issue under the Windows version of Google Chrome? Could you tell me your Os version and Chrome version so I can try to recreate that. I really do want to fix any issues.

    P.S. This could all just be my shitty design skills. Seriously… I’m bad.
